ROTARY RAMBLINGS
ROTARY CLUB OF DELRAY BEACH
December 03, 2002

Everyone seemed to have enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving. From the looks of
today's buffet, we are still feasting! President Pat Archer presided over
our meeting; Tony Allerton gave a lovely invocation. (Think he is taking
lessons from Rev. Atchison?)

Jimmy Weatherspoon is sure getting into the holiday spirit, leading us in
holiday songs. Of course, Bruce Williams seems to always be in a festive
mood, with his lovely renditions of some of our favorites.

Georgina Kerr-Jarrett gave the not so good, but with a positive attitude,
stock report. She also brought to our attention, our "new member, the
younger Art NeJame." Did any of you fail to recognize him?

Harvey Brown welcomed about nine visiting Rotarians, from all parts of the
globe. Rich Connell had as his guest, the area leader of The Boy Scouts. We
had a make up from Bill Talen, who is back with us for the winter; we are
glad to see your smiling face. Joyce Lunsford gave our banner to Lew Darby,
of Littleton, NH.

Bill Adams had as his guest, his lovely wife Charlotte. Our hats are off to
Bill and Charlotte for all the work they have done, working diligently on our
fundraiser, the holiday wreaths. We also thank Bill Arnst for acquiring and
delivering the wreaths. They are even more beautiful than expected. For
those of you that volunteered at the Green Market last Saturday, to sell
wreaths, we thank you. We also thank those of you that will be working the
next two Saturdays, helping to sell the wreaths. If you have not bought
yours as yet, please consider buying soon, before all are gone. They look
lovely on your door, and smell wonderful.

Candace Etzler, our Sergeant at Arms, collected $119.00 today. Among the
"big donors" was Barnie Shuhi, donating $10.00 to the scholarship fund; John
Arnold, $10.00 for the happy Thanksgiving he had with his family; Sam
Aldorfer $5.00 and Lyn Huckle $5.00.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Rotary Holiday Party! Delray Beach Golf Club, this
Thursday, December 5, 7:00 p.m.  Dining and dancing, Holiday Buffet;
entertainment by Eclipse. Please bring one new unwrapped toy for "Kids and
Cops" 12th Annual Holiday Toy Drive. Price for party: $40.00 per person

working with the Joint Venture Project, promoting our First Night 2003. The
theme of this years' festivities is Hats Off to Delray Beach.

Our 100' Christmas Tree is celebrating its tenth year, with all the
festivities centered on the tree. This year we are fortunate enough to have
a real carousel, and an "ice" skating rink, along with the many other events.
The buttons for the First Night event are $5.00 and will allow you to
participate, or observe all the events.

First Night is a fun family event; a nonalcoholic celebration; welcoming in
the new year. For further information, call Kathy Smith, First Night
Coordinator, Chamber of Commerce.  Her number is: 561-279-1380, extension 11;
