ROTARY RAMBLINGS
ROTARY CLUB OF DELRAY BEACH
June 24, 2003
Today, our Rotary Club of Delray Beach held its Annual Installation Luncheon.
For this occasion, we met at Delray Beach Golf Club. Ernie Simon welcomed
all; Hack Allen gave the invocation.
Since (Past) President Pat Archer was away on vacation, Ernie Simon, emcee
for the occasion, read her farewell speech. After installing the new officers
and board members, Ernie installed our new president, Mark Denkler, the tall,
good looking Texan in our midst. Mark, we salute you and know you will have a
great year as leader of our club. We are all looking forward to working with
you.
Art NeJame presented pins to fourteen members with perfect attendance for the
year. Harvey Brown lead the group with 36 years perfect attendance. Ernie
Simon followed with 35 years and nine months. (Does this have anything to do
with order of age?)
Ernie presented Certificates of Appreciation to members, from Past President
Pat Archer, recognizing their efforts to our Rotary Club for the past year.
We had a great attendance for this occasion today; some of the guys even
donned ties for it; looking good! We welcomed three Rotarian guests: Dorian
Trauger and Michael Enkoff, of the Boynton-Lantana Club, and C. Ron Allen, of the
Delray Sunrise Club. Stormi Norem had his lovely daughter, Carey with him. We
welcome each of you and hope you will attend again.
A good time was had by all; including our renowned "Official Grouch," B. G.
(Or is it Grumpy Old Man?) He even enjoyed the chicken!
See you at Ellie's Flamingo Room next week, under the leadership of our new
President, Mark Denkler.
