ROTARY RAMBLINGS
ROTARY CLUB OF DELRAY BEACH
July 8, 2003

Ellie's back! How about that Bruce Galloway? What a sense of humor, and
gift of gab. I thank him for "sittin' in" for me last week.

Hope all of you had a wonderful, safe July 4th. I must commend Delray Beach,
and our own Rich Connell (Asst. Director of Parks and Recreation) for such a
wonderful, festivities filled day, and finale with a "fantabulous" fireworks
display. My family noted, and commented how well behaved and patriotic the
huge crowd seemed to be.

Today, our new president, Mark Denkler, presided over a well run noon
meeting. First of all, he presided over a 7:30 a. m. Board of Directors Meeting. The
meeting was well attended, and much was accomplished.

Lou Cucci informed us that our Christmas Holiday Party has already been
booked for December 5, 2003, at Delray Municipal Golf Course. Please put this on
your calendar now! We are looking forward to a bigger and better time than
last year! (And it was fun!)
He is planning a Summer Party; will keep you posted on details.
Ernie Simon will tell us more about the Service Above Self Award, to take
place in November, soon. Many committees were put into action this a. m. Be
ready to assist these chairpersons.

Gerry Meeks lead the singing today. Again, we had microphone problems; not
knowing whether the speaker was coming or going. Hack Allen gave the
invocation. Bruce Williams outdid himself on piano; practice makes perfect!

Bruce Wenzel greeted two visiting Rotarians. Pat Archer paid for an
unclaimed banner.
