ROTARY RAMBLINGS
NOVEMBER 4, 2003
It was drizzling in Delray today but Bruce Williams put our Rotarians in an=20
upbeat frame of mind with his lively piano renditions.
President Mark Denkler presided over the meeting and Dave O=E2=80=99Connell=20=
delivered=20
a thought-provoking invocation. Leading the Rotary chorus was Wally Doud wh=
o=20
had us harmonizing to that old favorite tune, "For Me and My Gal." We=20
sounded so good that we followed it with "Let Me Call You Sweetheart." Grea=
t job,=20
Wally!
We also sang our anniversary wishes to Candace Etzler who is celebrating si=
x=20
years of marital bliss.
Our snowbirds are beginning to arrive and today Bruce Wenzel had the pleasur=
e=20
of introducing six visiting Rotarians. Sam Altdoerffer and John Walker were=
=20
here from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Terry Johnson was visiting from=20
Indianapolis. Closer to home we had Bob Miller from Lake Worth and Sam Crac=
chiolo=20
from Boca Raton. Visiting from Germany was Dr. Oswald Woerz. Candace Etzle=
r=20
brought Reverend Roger Richardson of the Church of the Palms as her guest an=
d a=20
prospective member. Rounding out our guest list was Bill Miller. Thanks to=
=20
all for joining us today and come back soon!
We had some good news from Georgina Kerr-Jarrett who reported that the stock=
=20
market continues in a rally mode and keeps going up. It hit a new high toda=
y!
Sergeant At Arms Tony Allerton managed to collect $118 for our scholarship=20
fund. We extended a very special "welcome back" to Macey Gordon and Marily=
n=20
Ochs. Macey donated money for the banner which we did not give away. Emmet=
t=20
Gumm gave $20 in celebration of his wedding anniversary. Thanks to all for y=
our=20
generosity!

=20
program at FAU during the past 16 years. In the last five years his team ha=
s won=20
more games than any other school in Florida except Florida State University.=
=20
Although baseball is a business even at the college level, Kevin said he tri=
es=20
not to translate that side to his players. He urged us to come to the game=
s=20
