ROTARY RAMBLINGS

ROTARY CLUB OF DELRAY BEACH

December 28, 2004

Many of our members are still away for the holidays, but those in attendance
were in a happy, holiday mood.

President Bill Adams opened the meeting; Tony  Allerton gave the invocation;
then Bill had the honor of leading the singing. (How lucky can he get?)

Gerry Meeks greeted three visiting Rotarians. Con Fecher, celebrating his
birthday, donated $25.00. Con, thanks for your generosity, and Happy Birthday
from all of us.

Fred Bonardi gave us the stock report, reporting the market will have a nice
close for the year, the DOW finishing strong.

Roy Simon, Sergeant at Arms, collected $102.00 for the day. Jess Sowards
paid for the banner.

We were informed that Jim Pignato is in Bethesda Hospital, with a bleeding
ulcer. Jim, we are thinking of you and pray for a speedy recovery.

Leo Phillips introduced our speaker for the day, Kirk Hoza, Football
Defensive Coordinator/Secondary, at Florida Atlantic University. Prior to that he
was Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/ Secondary, at Arkansas Tech
University. Prior to that, he was with Humboldt State University, Whittier
College, University of Redlands, University of Louisville, Port Charlotte HS.
He was a player at Slippery Rock University.

Mr. Hoza is a man with strong religious convictions, and a love of football.
He asked the question: "Are leaders born, or made?" He answered the
question before the end of his talk: "Leaders are made!" "Believe in your
convictions."

Next week: David Harden will present a representative from Boy Scouts of
America.

On January 15, 2005, The Delray Beach Playhouse/Ernest G. Simon Scholarship
Fund will present Boom! You're Dead! This will be held at Ellie's Diner,
Flamingo Room. From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p. m, "mingle with the mourners" during
social hour. 7:00 p.m. Interrogation (Dinner). All proceeds benefit the
Delray Beach Playhouse Ernest G. Simon Scholarship for the Performing Arts Fund.
The price for a fun evening is only $50.00 per person. Come and mourn with
Ernie and all his friends! They will offer a night of Intrigue; Silent
Auction; Mayhem; Raffles!

HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU.
