Today, President David Armstrong presided over our noon meeting at Ellie's
Flamingo Room for the last time in 2006. Our club will not meet next
Tuesday (Dec. 26) because of the Christmas Holiday falling on Monday; many
people will be traveling on that day. We will, however, meet on Tuesday,
January 2, 2007; same time; same place!
David Richards gave the invocation, being thankful for all our blessings in
life; and for Rotary. He wished each of us a Merry Christmas, and Happy
Holidays.
Harvey Brown, amid thunderous applause, as he stepped to the podium,
welcomed each visiting Rotarian, including Fred Jones, a long ago member of
our club. Georgina Rice presented our guest, Thea Temple, from Mesquite, TX
our banner, as she presented hers to us. Betsy Owen introduced her guest,
Mahl Bell, from the Sunrise Rotary Club. We also had Patti Allerton, a
prospective member, visiting with us again today. Kurt Godfrey had his
lovely daughter, Kim Godfrey, home from U.F. for the holidays, visiting with
us today. After getting slightly lost, we had Roy Wolfe, from Sydney,
Australia, visit with us and present his banner. (He had further to travel
than most of us.)
We congratulate Mike Campbell for making up two times; as well as Tom
Stanley (who was away last week, while his lovely wife, Kirsten filled in
for him).
Georgina Rice, giving her last stock report, before retiring, reported that
the market was down, down, down today.
Sergeant at Arms Tony Allerton, reported that we had two birthdays today.
Con Fecher gave $100.00 for the popcorn popper in honor of his birthday (is
he really that old? Looks good for his age, don't you think?) Stormi Norem
with a birthday and anniversary, donated $56.00. We wish both of you the
very best; thank you for your generosity. Steve Gutterman donated $10.00,
honoring his new grandson. Tony gathered in a total of $330.00 today.
Nancy Owens reported that our Dictionary Project was a success, and she
honored her "workers" Bob Teninga, Candace Etzler, Sue Miller, Janet Powell,
Dave Richards and Leo Phillips, praising each for their participation.
Nancy Owens then told us of the need at Village Academy; that they needed
$400.00 to buy cheerleading uniforms for the cheerleaders. She asked
permission to "pass the hat;" the crowd was generous; she received $430.00.
We also passed the hat for the wait staff at Ellie's (a yearly ritual);
then, the money was presented to head waiter, Frank. Our club was really in
the giving spirit today; true Rotarians. The green hat has not been won, as
yet; it exceeds $1,300.00 at this time.
Our guest, Christina Dombrowsky, was introduced by Leo Phillips, and told us
a bit about her. After reading her resume, it is no wonder why she was
chosen as our Ambassadorial Scholar, to study in Argentina. She has
promised to return and visit with us again; she loved our "spirit." She has
studied at UF, Majoring in Marketing, Minor in Communication Studies;
University of Utrecht - Utrecht, Netherlands; John Cabot University - Rome,
Italy. Ms. Dombrowsky's permanent address is Delray Beach. Looks like we
have another winner!
We ended our meeting with singing Holiday/Christmas songs, led by Maestro,
Jimmy Weatherspoon, donning his "Rotary glasses," so he can read his lines.
He then ended it with his own personal little jingle. Bruce Williams, we
thank you for the lovely songs you have played for us all year through.
REMINDER: Next meeting will be January 2, 2007.
For those of you that have just celebrated Hanukkah, we hope yours was
lovely.

also passed
the hat for the wait staff at Ellie’s (a yearly ritual); then, the =
money
was presented to head waiter, Frank. Our club was really in the =
giving
spirit today; true Rotarians. The green hat has not been won, as =
yet; it
exceeds $1,300.00 at this time.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

introduced by Leo Phillips, and told us a bit about her. After =

her resume, it is no wonder why she was chosen as our Ambassadorial =
Scholar, to

w:st=3D"on">Argentina</st1:place></st1:country-region>.
She has promised to return and visit with us again; she loved our =
“spirit.”
She has studied at UF, Majoring in Marketing, Minor in Communication =
Studies;
University of Utrecht – Utrecht, Netherlands; John Cabot =
University –
Rome, Italy. Ms. Dombrowsky’s permanent address is <st1:City =
w:st=3D"on"><st1:place
w:st=3D"on">Delray Beach</st1:place></st1:City>. Looks like we =
have
