ROTARY RAMBLINGS
ROTARY CLUB OF DELRAY BEACH
March 25, 2008
President Kurt Godfrey presided over another packed house, on a lovely day
in Delray Beach. Tom Cook offered a lovely invocation. "Jivin' Jim"
Weatherspoon led us in a couple of our favorites. As always, Bruce Williams
wowed us with his renditions on piano.
Mark and LaRonda Denkler are celebrating twenty years of marriage. He
generously donated $100.00 to our club in honor of her putting up with him
all these years. We wish you both a long and happy marriage.
Harvey Brown welcomed five visiting Rotarians, and four guests of Rotarians.
John Mann, of Vermont, swapped banners with us. Make ups were done by
Harvey Brown, Gerry Meeks, Craig Hammett (3), and Mark Denkler (3). We
thank each of you for your efforts.
Roy (not Ernie) Simon served as Sergeant at Arms. He collected a total of
$241.00 (thanks to Mark Denkler, for his $100.00). In addition, Inga Talmon
gave money to announce her induction into Ted Turner's Classics, with her
movie "When The Girls Take Over" (1962).
President Kurt Godfrey inducted our newest member, Marty Phillips. Mr.
Phillips is Past District Governor of District 0607, Southeast Pennsylvania.
He has been a Rotarian for 35 years. His wife, who recently passed away,
was a Rotarian as well. We welcome Marty Phillips and look forward to
working with him in Rotary.
President-elect Steve Bates announces our District Assembly, slated for
April 19 at Indian River College, Fort Pierce. All officers will attend;
all members are invited to attend, as well.
Steve Bates introduced our guest speaker, Mr. Peter M. Feaman, of Boca
Raton. Mr. Feaman is the author of "Wake Up America!" subtitled,
"Understanding Jihad for Dummies!" He has published numerous articles and
editorials appearing in the Boca Raton News and the South Florida
Sun-Sentinel.
Mr. Feamon is a trial attorney, specializing in real estate, construction,
business and securities litigation. He recently stepped down from a
three-year stint as a member of the Palm Beach County Zoning Commission. He
is the Immediate Past President of the Boca Raton Central Rotary Club.
Mr. Feamon's quest to write "Wake Up America" began when his Rotary club had
a minister as their guest speaker. This sparked his interest in learning
that the news media does not tell all! He learned much through his research
that he wants to share with other Americans and the whole world.
"Wake Up America! Tells you what you need to know about the War on Terror
but what you are not being told by the government or the mainstream press!"
For more information on Peter Feaman, go to www.wakeupamerica.ws

Next week, our speaker will be Alton Taylor, Executive Director for Drug
Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County.
President Kurt Godfrey has asked me to remind you to go to our website:
Rotary Club of Delray Beach, and click on our picture gallery. He has
updated pictures for viewing. He got a good shot of the billboard at
Atlantic High School, on Atlantic Avenue (west of Congress). "The Rotary
Club of Delray Beach honors their "Student of the Month." This is great
press for our club, and encourages students to want their name on that
billboard.
