Fire-Rescue Chief Receives Harvard Fellowship

April 24, 2008:  Delray Beach Fire-Rescue Chief David James has been awarded
a fellowship to participate in the Harvard University Senior Executives in
State and Local Government Program.  He was selected to attend the summer
program at the University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in
Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The three-week program focuses on leadership
skills utilized in diverse situations and a broad range of topics common to
public sector professionals.  The eighty class members will be composed of
state and municipal elected officials, county and city managers and
department heads from across the country.

Each year the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), together with the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Fire Administration, the
International Association of Fire Chiefs and the International Fire Service
Training Association, offers fellowships to the Harvard program.  Candidates
from the United States, Canada and abroad are chosen based on a process of
individual interviews as well as a comprehensive group case study critique.
Chief James is one of eight senior fire officials selected for this year's
fellowship. 

The City of Delray Beach commends Fire-Rescue Chief David James on this
well-deserved honor.
