President Steve Bates received the attached request. He indicated that this be a personal decision and each Rotarian should respond as they feel called upon to respond.

"Dear Rotarian Steve,
It pains me to have to write this letter to all of you as I washopeful that we would escape tragic circumstances with this year’sweather patterns; however, we did not. Phil Lustig, your DisasterRelief Chairman sent stories and pictures to you last week throughemails concerning the disaster in Haiti, and I have included his powerpoint (careful some of the pictures are very graphic) again with thisletter. I’m sure all of you have viewed with horror the pictures acrossthe media concerning Haiti and the Gulf region. I have received emailsasking what the District was going to do. I am sorry to say that thedistrict cannot send funds at this time as there are not sufficientfunds in either the Reserve Fund or the Operating Account.
The District can participate through each club individually or theclubs can participate as a district if you would like to send theclub’s check to your District 6930 501 (c) 3:
Rotary District 6930 Charitable Foundation, Inc
C/o Kim Cole or c/o DG Betsy Owen
12588 Shoreline Dr. 2150 South Ocean Blvd. 4E
Wellington, FL 33414 Delray Beach, FL 33483
Under Memo please indicate whether you would like the funds to go to Haiti or the Gulf Region, and we will direct the funds to the proper location.
If you would like to send other items (such as material or hardgoods) to the stricken areas. Please remember Rotary’s philosophy is toask what they need not to guess what they need. Phil Lustig should beable to help you with this information as it comes to the district socontact him please.
