We were serenaded byour resident piano player, Bruce Williams. The meeting was called to order byPresident, Steve Bates.  Candace Etzlerled us in the invocation followed by a lively rendition of  “Down in the Valley” and “R.O.T.A.R.Y.” by JimmyWeatherspoon.  We also sang Happy Anniversaryto Bill Arnst (34 years) and Candace Etzler (11 years).
 
Harvey Brownintroduced our one visiting Rotarian, Oswald Werrs from German and discussedbriefly Craig Hammett’s computer prowess in his online makeup.  Our only guest was Linda Parker, prospectivemember.
 
Since Fred Bonardiwas not in attendance with the stock report, Kurt received a report fromMerrill Lynch indicating the market was up 276 points.  
 
Sergeant at Arms Reportwas given by Ernie Simon who raised $129 from various sources, including the$34 and $11 from the anniversary celebrants.
 
Several announcements:
 
Last week’s readingat the Achievement Center for Children andFamilies was a great success.  Thanks tothe numerous Rotarians that participated. Please participate again the 3rd Thursday of November (11/18)since the last Thursday is Thanksgiving.
 
Miracle League isunderway.  Games are Saturdays at 3pm atMiller Field.  Come support the team.
 
Shoe Drive has begunpursuant to the speaker that Sue Miller had visit us a few weeks ago, Dr.Elizabeth Reilly.  Please bring new orgently used shoes – childrens or adults to the meetings for the next severalweeks.  Sue will deliver them to Dr. Reilly.  In addition, there will be an article in theSun Sentinel next week, which talks about this drive and should make mention ofRotary’s participation.
 
Alan Kornblau stillshas raffle tickets.  Please see him ifyou have not taken any tickets.  It isimperative that this be a group effort and all Rotarians participate to make ita success.  Last year this project raised$3,000 for our Atlantic High Scholarships. Remember Rotarians – Service Above Self and get out and sell raffletickets.  We’re not asking for a largecommitment.  10 tickets per member.  
 
Sid Breman wasinducted as a Rotarian.  Welcome Sid!
 
Bob Teningaintroduced our program, The Singing Schoolteachers.  These 2 ladies, Reeza and Dee are retiredschool teachers who spend their time making music.  They performed not only an originalcomposition written in honor of Election Day, but also some age-old favoritesfrom various genres, country (Crazy), 50’s rock (The Twist); Calypso (Day O) toname just a few.  A few of our gang werecaught singing along.  Go Rotarians.
 
Green hat up to $1,342– Gerry Meeks did not get the ace and there are only 11 cards remaining fornext week.
 
This is the 2ndand final posting for Linda Parker, Property Manager; Joe Milenkovic, DeputyChief of Police; and Fabio Vazilla, Banker from HSBC.  
 
Also, Lynn Hucklefell and cracked a rib.  Please keep herin your thoughts and prayers, and if you get a chance give her a call.
