Speaker-Ted Bassett

President of the Keeneland Association, UK Equine Research Foundation,
Thoroughbred Club of America, Kentucky Horse Park, Breeders Club, ltd.

Thoroughbred Racing Association. Doctor of Laws Degrees at Eastern
Kentucky University, Transylvania University, and University of
Kentucky. Recipient of 28 awards. Served in WWII as the 1st Lt. 4th
Marine, 6th Division and received a Purple Heart and Presidential Unit
Citation, Marine Corp Semper Fidelis Award and the Dept. of Navy
Superior Public Service Award.

Ted spoke of embarrassing occasions

-at the Breeders Cup Sheraton Bell Harbor he was supposed to
be introducing the Governor at a ceremony in which they say thank you to
all the appropriate people. They also had Reba McIntyre who was to sing
at the occasion. Ted introduced the Governor as Re3ba McIntyre. The
Governor was not happy!

When he was head of the State Police he was driving his cruiser along
the road and saw a school bus about 100 yards ahead. He didn't judge
his distance very well and ended up smashing into the back of the bus
with the bus full of kids. He was not wearing a seatbelt and had to go
through the regular process of having an officer sent out to assess the
situation. One the officer submitted the report it stated in 1" letters
that he was apparently sober. He was upset that the officer did this
and when he questioned the officer, the officer said that this was part
of the policy that Ted had begun in the last few months and he was just
doing as he was told by Ted. This incident never made it into the
papers which was much relief for Ted.

The Sergeant at Arms report was skipped so Steve Bates brought Ernie
Simon up at the conclusion of Ted's speech. The club raised $89 that
day.

The Green Hat-$389 and Ann Bright picked the 5 of Spades.

Adjourned.
