Rotaract Club sent us a nice thank you note for our assistance with the
Relay for Life

Sarah Martin will be meeting with the July 4th committee to discuss our
Bicycle decorating competition and the Beautiful Baby Bathing Suit
competition. We are seeking sponsorships from companies around the
area. Please help by asking your employer if they would consider
sponsoring this event. In exchange banners can be hung and other
advertising can be included.

Our own favorite officer, Joe Milenkovic, of the Delray Beach Police
discussed all of the changes that are happening in the police dept. Due
to the poor economy, crime always rises. Things like people who can't
or won't make their car payments anymore reporting their cars stolen,
etc. keep them busy. Violent crime has decreased by 2% but property
crime is up.

Joe took questions from us:

Gang activity in Delray? We do have gang activity but mostly kids are
naming their own gangs for their street name. Most gangs are composed
of kids 15-16 years old who live in either single parent homes or that
have both parents working full time. These kids can be dangerous
because they have no respect, fear or remorse

Red Light Cameras? Not sure about what may happen with this as the
state of Florida now has laid claim to some of the revenue from these
cameras. Stay tuned!

Budget reductions? Delray has about 160 sworn officers. Budget
constraints always make it tough on the police. They are trying very
diligently to provide a high level of service.

Police Trust Fund? This is funded by assets seized in criminal cases
which are sold. Funds are put back into the community.

Clean and Safe Program? 4 officers are paid for by the CRA to be on
foot, on T3's, and to patrol the area from downtown to the beach from
10AM - 2AM. There are always 2 on patrol during that time.

Green Hat - Red Deck $500.00...Stormi drew 6 of hearts

Blue Deck $71.00 ----Alan Kornblau drew the 6 of
spades

See you tomorrow!
