Wayne Brockney announced that we have lost one of our favorite visitors,
his neighbor, Al Seldomridge who passed away a couple of weeks ago. We
stood for a moment of silence in his honor.

Ernie Simon did a memorial resolution for the June 4 passing of Cliff
Ripley. We stood for a moment of silence in his honor.

Tom Stanley introduced our speaker, Richard Hasko, from Environmental
Services for the City of Delray. He discussed the reclaimed water
project. Even though we are coming out of the drought period, water
restrictions are going to continue. Conservation of water is the key.

In 1989 a feasibility study was done about reclaiming water for
irrigation purposes

By 1993, the study had confirmed that it would be very beneficial to
build a reclaimed water system. From 1994-1997 contracts were
negotiated for Boynton Beach golf communities under a 20 year contract.
For communities using reclaimed water, the restrictions on watering do
not apply. In 2003 and 2004 water tanks were built to hold reclaimed
water. In 2009, the average daily flow is 2.9 million gallons per day.

Communities who use the reclaimed water pay nothing to hook onto the
system. They do pay for the water they use. Presently, the system is
not available to all but they continue to expand it.
